Precision reveals sense
fine music engraving | editorial & publishing preparation | piano reductions | notation workflow
I turn manuscripts and source materials into print-ready scores and performance materials for publishers, composers, and performing arts organisations. Twenty years of practice, across the full range of repertoire — solo, chamber, choral, orchestral, opera.
WHAT I DO
ENGRAVING
Publication-quality scores in Dorico Pro and Sibelius Ultimate, with expert knowledge of the engraving options. Note entry from autograph manuscript, composers' own files, and sources in whatever condition they arrive. Where a standard is set, I follow it — a house style, a publisher's own conventions, whatever documentation exists.

EDITORIAL & PUBLISHING PREPARATION
Full proofreading: a systematic read of the source against the notation, catching discrepancies, internal inconsistencies, and errors inherited from the original. Findings are either flagged for the client's decision or resolved on my own authority — whichever the project calls for. Performance parts with page turns that work and cues placed where a player actually needs them, following MOLA conventions.

PIANO REDUCTIONS
Comfortable, idiomatic, performance-ready. Density is set by the project, anywhere from a spare rehearsal reduction to a full two-piano arrangement that holds an entire orchestral score intact — the choice follows the purpose, not the size of the orchestra.

NOTATION WORKFLOW
Translating a publisher's notation specifications into concrete settings and reusable templates: a standard that outlives the project and survives changes of personnel. Bringing composers' materials, handwritten or roughly typeset, up to publishing standard. Cleanup of MusicXML and Finale imports, with correction or fresh entry decided case by case. On large projects, the final consistency pass across material engraved by several hands.

READING FROM THE INSIDE
My engraving practice grows from three roots: a pianist's complete education; a composer's thinking, formed over ten years of study with Alla Zagaykevych; and a working life in performance — the concert stage, and now the opera house.
Add fluent sight-reading, strong inner hearing, and perfect pitch, and a score reads the way it was conceived. Errors and inconsistencies surface early, while I am still reading, rather than at proof stage when the layout is already settled.

HOW I WORK
Fidelity to the brief. Client guidelines are followed exactly. Where I see a reason to depart from them, I raise it rather than decide it.
Staged and agreed. Work moves in stages, and each is agreed before the next begins. The material is visible as it develops, and decisions are made in good time.
On schedule. Fast note entry and settled routines let me hold to concert and publishing deadlines, tight turnarounds included, without trading away accuracy.
Files. Delivered clean and fully editable — logical structure, no stray objects. Anyone picking the file up later can work in it.
Tools. Dorico Pro, Sibelius Ultimate. Licensed software only. MIDI keyboard for high-speed entry.
Languages. Ukrainian — native. English — correspondence and project documentation. Working command of vocal texts and musical terminology in English, Italian, German, French, and Latin.
Working conditions. I maintain a fully autonomous workspace with independent power and internet. The war in Ukraine has not interrupted my work. Deadlines hold.
